More and more non-profit organizations are learning what the Ivy League universities have known for years; there is no better way for developing relationships with your donors/members/alumni than by organizing exclusive and intimate experiences through travel and events.

Asking for a donation from some-one you know only from a formal dinner or from a mailing list is difficult. Asking for a donation from some-one who you have spent 7 days with; dining, sight-seeing, sitting on a coach together, enjoying private tours is much easier. Life is all about relationships.

How Can We Use Travel & Events in Our Organization?

Fundraising:

A major opera company charters a private ship to cruise on the Italian Riviera. Participation is limited to 100 lucky guests. Days are filled with guest lectures and at night the best talents of the company perform for the audience under the stars.

Result: Hundreds of thousands of dollars are raised from the event alone, not to mention the special relationship the opera company has developed with those fortunate enough to attend this unforgettable cruise.

Donor Cultivation:

A cathedral is raising money for a new roof. Friends of the cathedral are invited on a behind the scenes tour of the cathedrals of England , lead by the conservator. Those attending enjoy special access and private performances.

Result: Donors experience first-hand the immense and lasting contribution that cathedrals have and on their return from the tour a number decide to make a honor and memorial gifts.

Membership:

The Jewish Museum of New York offers a travel program designed exclusively for members of The Board of Trustees and Museum Council (membership begins at $10,000). The tours examine Jewish culture and history

Result: A strong incentive to join/upgrade membership status and increased awareness of the organization's mission.

A Children's Hospital

To incentivise and reward volunteers, the hospital offers different award levels of travel (from a weekend away to a Caribbean cruise).

Result: Increased participation in program and record-breaking sums raised.
