Antebellum South Golf Cruise

Itinerary

Embark from charming Charleston , often called a "living museum". Visit the magnificent historic district and the famous Fort Sumter National Monument . After sailing through the Ashepoo, Stono and Ashley Rivers, call on South Carolina 's second-oldest city, Beaufort. This town is included on the national Register of Historical Places. Next visit Daufuskie Island which was only recently opened up to the public and is steeped in tradition and history.

You will also be able to visit Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island . Your next port of call is Savannah , one of the nation's largest historic districts. Enjoy a narrated tour of this charming and fascinating town. St. Simons Island welcomes you with tours of the Lighthouse, Christ Church and Retreat Plantation. After calling on beautiful Jekyll Island , conclude your voyage at Amelia Island.

The Ship

The American Spirit is a new, upscale ship accommodating only 93 passengers and perfect for sailing the rivers and bays of this itinerary. With an all-American staff, open dining, complimentary cocktails each evening and historians and local naturalists on-board, this promises to be a vacation of a lifetime.

American Cruise Lines

American Cruise Lines is the leader in small ship cruising. Carrying no more than 100 passengers, these brand new small ships are able to easily navigate America 's smooth, inland waterways and dock in the heart of each charming port. From Maine to Florida , our itineraries are designed to allow our passengers to experience intimately each area's local culture, fascinating history and natural splendor.

Unsurpassed personal attention and intimate ambience make American Cruise Lines the leader in small ship cruising. The all-American crew is friendly, polite and eager to pamper you. Highly skilled chefs treat passengers to delectable feasts, masterfully prepared with the utmost in care and quality, highlighting the flavors of the local regions.

All staterooms face outside and are the largest in their class - featuring private baths and large, opening picture windows. Some staterooms also have private balconies for unsurpassed views of the passing scenery.

Refreshingly casual, flexible and unregimented - American Cruise Lines provides an intimate ambience conducive to camaraderie. Curl up with a book in the library, chat with new friends in one of the lounges, or watch the passing scenery from one of the open observation decks.

Each night, passengers relive the day's adventures over complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres before dinner. The atmosphere for dining is informal - no gowns or tuxedos, please - but do sit with whomever you like. Each table has an outside view, so take your time - meals are cooked to order and this is a great time to build new friendships. Later, enjoy a presentation by a guest speaker.

The Experience

Small ship cruising with American Cruise Lines is not like cruising on a mega-ship for days on the open sea. Small ships, like the American Cruise Lines' Vessels, provide a more remarkable adventure, enabling no more than 100 passengers to experience personally and intimately, a multitude of fascinating destinations unreachable by larger, conventional cruise ships. American Cruise Lines' vessels are perfectly designed for inner explorations of off-the-beaten-track waterways and charming ports that passengers on large ships will never see.

Shared adventures and camaraderie are savored onboard and during escorted shore excursions. This unique experience is further enriched through onboard lecturers and naturalists, and special visits from local experts. Small ship cruising offers travelers a relaxing, intimate atmosphere, casual ambiance, an unrivaled cultural experience, and the opportunity to be part of an educational, historic adventure along the natural splendor and smooth inland waters of the East Coast.
