About Golf Barge Charters For those who want to kick back and travel at a slower pace, European canal barging may be the ticket. Typically, the vessels used for golf trips are beautifully appointed -- like floating country inns -- and travel at a walking pace, covering just 30 to 40 miles in a week. Passengers are free to disembark, then stroll, bike or relax at a sidewalk café along the way. Gourmet meals are prepared by an onboard chef and complemented by fine regional wines. Each morning and again after lunch, guided tours to historic and cultural sites of the region provide guests many interesting choices from visiting chateaux, famous vineyards, country market towns, private gardens to museums celebrating art, weapons, textiles or bread! Other interests, like golf, ballooning, riding and tennis are also accommodated.
