About

The Etoiles are owner-operated and offer a very cozy atmosphere. The bilingual French/Dutch owners - Mathias and Cobie - are a delightful, warm, friendly and knowledgeable couple. They welcome guests both in Southern Burgundy and in Provence & Camargue, or on the Canal du Midi, on selected dates.

Guests enjoy both the comfortable vessels and the talent of their hosts: Cobie who prepares "outstanding meals" and Mathias who "goes out of his way to take his guests to see chateaux, medieval villages and special shopping places in areas not usually tourist sites".

The program is flexible and arranged to the needs of the guests (special wine tours are available). Children are welcome, and with an additional smaller fourth cabin, the Etoile can accommodate up to 7 guests. The Etoile can also cruise in tandem with the 4 passenger Etoile II and accommodate groups of 10 guests

Cruise Intineraries

                     

  • Southern Burgundy: L'Etoile cruises on the Canal du Centre through the vineyards of Santenay
        and partly on the wide and spacious River Saône.
        Meeting point in Le Creusot or in Dijon.

  • Provence & Camargue: This cruise combines well-known sights of Provence with intimate and
        unusual moorings in Camargue and on the Mediterranean.
        Meeting point in Avignon or Montpellier.

  • Canal du Midi: The Canal, built in the 17th Century, flows through a region steeped in history.
        We'll travel at a leisurely pace, with plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding areas, visit
        local sites, take a walk or bicycle the towpaths.

    Wine Cruise

    "Our goal is to give you a real taste of France, serving wines from many different regions, but admittedly the Burgundy wines are our favorites! It will be a real pleasure to share our knowledge with you. We will teach you about the wine growing areas, winemaking, and how to read a French wine label. Throughout your trip we will introduce you to our carefully selected local wines and premier cru wines." - Mathias

    Your barge cruise comes with your choice of two meal plan options:
        Half Board - Breakfast and Lunch on board the barge. For Dinner we will assist you in choosing
        special restaurants and provide your transportation.
        Full Board - All meals are included, including those taken in restaurants
