Europe's Canals

The European canal system spans the length and breadth of the continent. Some canals even date from Roman times. Whilst larger canals are still used for commercial traffic there are miles of waterways which meander through the countryside at a more leisured pace. As one of the principal modes of transport in ages past, the canals link the most historic and culturally rich towns, passing through pastoral landscapes.

The Odyssey

Unlike the forty-odd hotel barges currently in operation on the canals, they do not have a fixed "bus tour" itinerary. Exploring the forgotten and undiscovered, as well as the better-known parts of Europe , voyages are tailored to the tastes and interests of clients.

Guests can enjoy an individual cruise or return each year for a program of voyages, joining Golden Odyssey as she moves through the more than ten thousand miles of continental waterways.

Castle Cruise

Golden Odyssey is delighted that, with the gracious permission of the Count de Roodenbeke, we are able to offer a unique cruise of six nights aboard Golden Odyssey, with the seventh night a-shore as guests of Castle Ooidonk. A family home for centuries the castle is not generally open to the public. Guests will be invited to a private dinner before spending the night in the splendid staterooms, a real privilege: never before in living memory has anyone but family spent the night in Ooidonk Castle .
