charter or super-yacht has had to change to cope with the increasing
opulence and extravagance of the
luxury yachts that have come onto the market in recent years.
However, a mega-yacht charter is one that starts in length of about
100 feet and up. Unlike smaller yachts which typically have a crew
of two, a mega yacht charter will have a full complement of staff,
each with well-defined duties.

top Guide to Chartering a Mega Yacht
Your mega-yacht charter starts with some basic and prosaic questions:
How many people will be in your yacht
charter party ? Most yachts typically accommodate 6-8 passengers
but certain mega-yachts can take up to 110 passengers.
What configuration will be needed for bedrooms ? Who will be sleeping in the master suite? Will double beds or twin beds be needed?
Where do you wish to travel to and from?
There may be re-positioning fees for unusual charter itineraries.
When do you wish to travel? Christmas
is high season for Caribbean
yacht charters and are chartered months in advance. On the Riviera
, mega yacht charters are at a high premium for the Cannes film
festival and the Monaco Grand Prix
What is your budget? Mega-yacht charters start from $1000 per person per day up to $10,000 per person per day. The best values can be found in yachts that are over five years old, they are still in excellent condition but don't charge the premium of the newly built yachts.

The Process.
Once we have found you a suitable charter mega-yacht, you will be presented with a contract from the yacht's owner, laying out the conditions of charter (please contact us for an example of a contract).
In US waters it will be necessary to charter the crew and yacht separately; this is known as a Bareboat Demise Agreement with a Yacht Services Agreement.
Elsewhere mega-yacht charters typically operate under a MYBA agreement, basically this means that the base charter price is for yacht and crew only. Food, fuel, taxes, docking fees are not included. Mega-yacht charterers will be asked to fill out a preference form detailing their food and entertainment needs for the week known as an APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) Form. You can expect to make a deposit of about 25% of the charter price. This money will be presented to the captain for expenses as they incur. Any monies remaining will be returned at the end of the charter.
Finally on all luxury yacht charters it is standard to pay a 15% gratuity to the crew, if the charterer feels that excellent service has been rendered.
